ABOUT THE WORK

“Midnight Dive is about escaping for a splint second. Living in a city, I am constantly surrounded by noise. Over time noise settles inside the body. Sometimes it becomes difficult to separate what are my genuine thoughts and feelings from everything that surrounds me. In this painting I imagine diving into water at midnight. You can only hear the sound you hear when your under water, or the crackling of coral reefs. In that moment there is nothing to see, nothing to hear clearly, only a quiet space to be with myself. The dive is an act of retreat. Maybe a midnight dive, can be nourishing for the soul.” - Salvita De Corte
