SUN.CONTEMPORARY is an artist-led gallery and project space promoting art shared by established and emerging Indonesian and international contemporary artists.

Founded by artist Ricky Lee Gordon in 2024, the gallery draws inspiration from the Buddhist concept of Śūnyatā—the idea that form and emptiness are intrinsically linked. This philosophy informs our approach to curation and community engagement, creating a space where art transcends traditional boundaries.

We showcase a curated selection of works from both established and emerging Indonesian and international contemporary artists. Our programming includes exhibitions, 'Art & Activism' talks, workshops, and partnerships that promote cross-cultural development.

Beyond exhibitions, SUN.CONTEMPORARY serves as a platform for interdisciplinary projects, artist residencies, and community-driven initiatives. We host pop-up dinner and music experiences that pair artists, chefs, and musicians within the gallery space, fostering a dynamic environment that encourages creative expression and collaboration.

SUN.CONTEMPORARY actively participates in international art fairs, showcasing our artists on a global stage and reflecting our commitment to engaging with the broader contemporary art community.

Furthermore, we offer specialised art advisory services, collaborating with businesses, architects, and designers to integrate art seamlessly into various projects. Our expertise ensures the selection and placement of artworks that complement and enhance the aesthetic and conceptual goals of each unique space.

Located just behind the Shelter restaurant, our two-floor gallery offers a serene setting for visitors to engage with contemporary art in a meaningful way.
