SUN.CONTEMPORARY PROJECTS

SUN.CONTEMPORARY PROJECTS is an artist-led project space in Bali founded by Ricky Lee Gordon as an alternative response to the traditional gallery form and as an extension of his own studio practice.

For Ricky, SUN.CONTEMPORARY PROJECTS is social practice. A way to stay connected to community, collaboration, and exchange while maintaining focus on his work as an artist. We hold exhibitions and show and sell work — but the space exists for more than that. It is a platform for activations, residencies, talks, workshops, and cross-cultural projects that bring artists, thinkers, and communities into genuine contact with each other.

A vision of what a space for art could look like differently.

The name draws from the Buddhist concept of Śūnyatā — the idea that form and emptiness are intrinsically linked. That philosophy runs through everything we do.

We work with established and emerging Indonesian and international artists, participate in international art fairs, and offer art advisory services to businesses, architects, and designers.

SUN.CONTEMPORARY PROJECTS is also a sister project to Sunyata Refuge — an artist residency and refuge in Sri Lanka.
