ABOUT THE WORK

“The painting reflects how my body remembers a memory. The figure fills the space, she and the baby are dissolving into the surface of the canvas, the image is emerging from sensation rather than from a clear moment in time. When i think about the moments i was breast feeding my son, my breast feel like they are swelling up, as if the memory triggers something physically, i can still feel the weight of his body, the sensation, and the closeness.” - Salvita De Corte
